Over $10.3 million announced for senior housing project in Spirit River
A senior housing project in Spirit River has received funding from the federal government.
On Friday Calgary Skyview MP George Chahal announced Ottawa has promised over $8 million under the Affordable House Fund to support the costs of a new affordable apartment building, providing 24 homes with seniors.
The four-story apartment will consist of one and two-bedroom self-contained suites, equipped with full kitchens and elevators on each floor.
Grande Spirit Foundation is developing the project and is providing over $1.9 million from themselves and the G5 municipalities as part of their mandate to provide safe, affordable housing and support services to low-income seniors, families and individuals.
