QE II Ambulatory Care Centre to get new water softeners
Alberta Infrastructure says replacement water softeners will be installed at Grande Prairie’s QE II Ambulatory Care Centre.
The province has included $300,000 in this year’s budget to replace the old water softeners under its Capital Maintenance and Renewal program.
Alberta Infrastructure said the following in an email to EverythingGP:
“Water softening is essential for removing dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which make water ‘hard’. Due to higher volumes of water usage in larger facilities, such as hospitals, ensuring an adequate amount of softened water and efficiency of the softening systems is important. The soft water systems are constantly maintained throughout their life cycle and replaced when necessary.”
