City of Grande Prairie closes 132 Avenue

Following Aqauatera Utilities confirming a water main break was causing a road closure on 132 Avenue; the City of Grande Prairie has closed the road.

A road closure is now in effect from 97B Street to 99 Street in both directions, with the City crediting this closure to an “unforeseen circumstance.”

According to Aquatera, the incident was caused by a contractor striking an eight-inch water main. This has led to a detour for residents and trucks entering the city eastbound, as they are now asked to divert to Highway 43.

In a release, the city asked residents to avoid the area and said more details will be provided when they become available.

Aquatera Utilities also addressed concerns of a water shortage, saying there are not any, as this water line break is only affecting a handful of customers.
