UPDATE: Two fires south of Grande Prairie extinguished

Update at 10:20 p.m. July 20 – The County of Grande Prairie says the two small fires south of Range Road 51 have been extinguished. The area will be monitored over air for the next few days.

County Regional Fire Services are responding to two new fires south of Range Road 51 in the County of Grande Prairie.

The small fires are located north of the Wapiti River and are near each other. They are along the Wapiti trails area.

There is currently no threat to the public.

Both fires are south of the newly made fireguard and is being actioned by Alberta Wildfire air tankers. County fire crews are working on gaining access by ground.

The public is asked to stay clear of the area and allow crews to work uninterrupted.

The County of Grande Prairie will be sharing updates on the fires on their social media and website.
