Severe thunderstorm watches issued by Environment Canada

There is a severe thunderstorm watch in place for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview, Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning and B.C. Peace forecast areas.

Environment Canada says storms that can produce heavy rain, hail and strong winds are possible this afternoon and evening.

A storm on Friday brought lightning, wind and heavy rain. It also knocked out power to some people for almost two hours.

The heat warning and air quality advisory also remain in place.

The Peace Airshed Zone Association says the Air Quality Health Index has ranged from moderate to high in Grande Prairie and moderate to very high in Beaverlodge today. (Monday, July 22).
