Annual aquatic maintence

Eastlink Centre aquatics area closing for September

Aug 23, 2024 | 7:05 AM

The Eastlink Centre’s aquatics area will be closed throughout September.

From September 3 to 27, the facility will undergo its annual maintenance.

Community Knowledge Campus Director, Angela Redding said this is “necessary” for the facility as it welcomes “over 140,000 visitors annually.”

This year, six tasks were identified by the City as a priority, on top of the regular maintenance and deep cleaning that takes place during the closure.

Those six tasks are:

  • Repairing the 50-metre competition pool bulkhead (moveable wall).
  • Refurbishing the splash pad.
  • Re-grouting shower rooms and the family hot tub.
  • Replacing filtration components at the end of their lifecycle.
  • Refurbishing the sauna.
  • Installing new shower heads.

During the closure, the Eastlink Centre will offer special dryland fitness classes, and a discounted fitness pass to make up for the disruption.

Eastlink Centre members and Grand Access cardholders will also be able to use their membership to access the Beaverlodge Swimming Pool during the maintenance.

The City also encourages residents to check out other amenities at the CKC campus during the maintenance, including drop-in fitness classes, drop-in activities, PlayCare and public skating.
