Grande Prairie Storm inks local prospect

Aug 29, 2024 | 12:01 PM

The Grande Prairie Storm have signed a local 2007-born forward Roghan Walker.

The 6’4 Beaverlodge product was selected in the WHL Bantam draft by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in 2022 and spent last season playing with the U18 AAA Storm.

In 36 games with the U18 Storm Walker had 19 points, with 11 goals, and 51 penalty minutes.

In the release, GM Mark Bomersback discussed what Walker will bring to the team this year saying; ” He competes hard, plays physical, has the skill and hockey sense to make plays. He’s a big, strong young man that’s going to be hard to stop and move off pucks. He comes from a great family and we know that he’s going to come in here, work hard every day and be a great teammate.”

Walker did already spend some time with the Storm last season, suiting up for one regular season and three playoff games where he recorded an assist and a pair of penalty minutes.

In the release Walker said; “the opportunity to be a part of the Storm organization is a huge honour. I’m really looking forward to getting things started.”
