Grande Prairie McDonald’s manager named recipient of 2024 Ray Kroc Award

The manager of a McDonald’s in Grande Prairie has been recognized with an award that spotlights the top 1 per cent of McDonald’s managers in the world.

Jayson Deato has been named a recipient of the 2024 Ray Kroc award.

Deato says he has been with the company since 2003 beginning his career when he was 18 in his home county of the Philippines.

“And then I’ve been in McDonald’s since 2009,” Deato says. “Now it’s 2024 so it’s been like 24 years now. I really love working with people, especially working with the diverse individuals here.”

He says the award is for managers who demonstrate superior performance and outstanding customer experience.

“Outstanding customer experience for me is to make sure that when our guests come into our restaurants, we have to make sure we give them the value of their money,” he says. “And then we want to make sure to give the best guest experience once they’ve entered and then exit the restaurant.”

He says the award was a team effort and is grateful for the support and work ethic of his employees.

“Starting with my crew and then my managers,” he says. “I’m just the guy that you guys can see walking around the restaurant and checking that everything works fine. But most of the time it’s my people who are the ones that are working in the operation.”

Deato is the manager of the west McDonald’s location near Costco.
