City of Grande Prairie encourages residents to meet their neighbours
The City of Grande Prairie encourages residents to get out and build connections with neighbours on Saturday, September 14.
Neighbour Day is Saturday, and Mayor Jackie Clayton says she “encourages everyone to highlight our community as a place where friendships are grander by getting involved in Neighbour Day, whether it be hosting a block party or leaving a friendly note on a neighbour’s door.”
In the release, the City provided a list of ways residents can get involved and connect with their community:
- Join or start a neighbourhood association.
- Organize or attend a community barbecue, picnic or potluck.
- Participate in a driveway or sidewalk art competition using sidewalk chalk.
- Help a neighbour with a small task like raking their lawn.
- Fill out the My Neighbourhood Card with your neighbours’ information to help keep your neighbourhood safe and get to know your neighbours better.
- Purchase some treats to share with your neighbours or invite a neighbour over for coffee.
- Start a walking or running group.
- Decorate the front door of your home.
