Food Bank Drive taking place tonight

Volunteers will be going door to door in Grande Prairie tonight (Thursday, September 12) to collect donations of food.

The annual Rotary Community Food Bank Drive has been going on for over 30 years.

Organizers say in a release that the need for the food bank went up 46 per cent from 2022 to 2023 and so far this year, 8100 hampers have been given out.

Healthy, non perishable food, hygiene and baby items are all being collected.

Last year, more than 800 volunteers collected 50 tons of food.

Donations are also being taken online. Anyone donating can use a virtual shopping cart to decide what the money is used to buy.
