Grande Prairie RCMP investigating fraudulent sale of stolen vehicle

Grande Prairie RCMP is seeking the public’s help in locating the individual now in possession of a black 1997 BMW that was purchased in August after being reportedly stolen.

The vehicle was advertised through social media and RCMP now believes the purchaser to be an unknowing victim of fraud.

Mounties are reminding everyone to follow safety tips to protect themselves from online fraud such as knowing the market value of the product, verifying the seller’s contact information, using a payment method with fraud protection, and reviewing all email information to make sure they are coming from a legitimate source.
