Cops for Cancer fundraiser Tour de North set to start from Dawson Creek Friday

The annual Cops for Cancer fundraiser Tour de North will leave from Dawson Creek Friday morning.

Police and others who work in emergency services will ride their bikes for 850 kilometres over a week’s time, ending up in Williams Lake September 26.

Tour events will get going Thursday night with a fundraiser and barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. B.C time, with the riders arriving around 4:30 p.m.

Close to $81,000 was raised as of Thursday morning; the fundraising goal is $200,000. All money raised will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The other main tour stops will include: Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Prince George and Quesnel, with side trips also planned for Hudson’s Hope, Mackenzie and Powder King Ski Hill.
