Liberals look to move past leadership drama with eye on next campaign
OTTAWA — The Liberal caucus is looking ahead to the party’s plan for the next election after an unsuccessful attempt by some MPs to oust Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Longtime Liberal operative Andrew Bevan was named the new national campaign director two weeks ago and made his first presentation to the full caucus this morning.
The presentation was initially scheduled to happen last week but that nearly three-hour meeting was dominated by discussions of Trudeau’s leadership.
A letter presented to Trudeau at that meeting called on him to step aside and gave him until Monday to make a decision — but he made clear he wasn’t going anywhere.
