New Regional Fire Training Centre opens at Dunes Fire Station

The new Regional Fire Training Centre officially opened its doors at the county Dunes Fire Station on Wednesday.

The centre is the result of a collaboration between the County Regional Fire Service, the City of Grande Prairie, and the Municipal District of Greenview to enhance regional emergency preparedness and replace the former, aging training centre.

County Fire Chief Trevor Grant says the firefighters will have access to advanced, hands-on-training to facilitate rapid and effective emergency response.

The new facility will also offer cost savings by allowing future firefighters to train locally; keeping teams ready to respond quickly and effectively.

City Fire Chief Mark VanWerkhoven says by working closely with regional partners they are building a safer future for their communities and ensuring crews are trained to the highest standard.
