Nov 2, 2024 | 8:00 AM

The 2024 Canadian Mixed Curling championship starts Sunday in St. Catherines, Ontario, and a rink from the Peace will be carrying Alberta’s colours.

The Kurt Balderston foursome from the Sexsmith Curling Club captured the Alberta crown at provincials held in March in Grande Prairie.

The team also includes third Janais DeJong, second Daylen Vavrek and lead Stephanie Malekoff.

Alberta will open play in the second draw on Day 1 versus Prince Edward Island.

Alberta is in Pool B, along with PEI, the Northwest Territories, Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nunavut.

After the opening round, the teams will be divided into seeding and championship pools.

Based on the results from the last three years, Alberta is seeded 10th going into this year’s edition.

The bronze and gold medal games will be played on November 9.
