The Stanley Cup champions have signed a Grande Prairie product.

The Florida Panthers say they have an agreement with forward Gracyn Sawchyn on a three-year, entry-level contract.

Sawchyn was picked in the second round, 63rd overall, by the Panthers in the 2023 NHL Draft.

“Gracyn is a talented skater with strong stick-handling skills and a high compete level. We are excited to watch him continue to develop within our system,” says Panthers president of hockey operations and general manager Bill Zito in a release posted on the Panthers website.

Sawchyn was with the Seattle Thunderbirds at the time he was drafted by Florida and is now with the Edmonton Oil Kings.

He has recorded eight goals and 12 assists so far this season.

He was also picked first overall in the 2020 U.S. Priority Draft by the Red Deer Rebels.

Gracyn’s brother Lukas is also with the Oil Kings. Gracyn wears number 59, while Lukas wears number 95.
