Mixed curling update, Wolves and NPHL games Thursday night

MIxed Curling

Alberta lost 7-4 to Nova Scotia Thursday in its first game in the championship pool at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship.

Alberta will also play Saskatchewan Thursday night, then B.C. and Newfoundland and Labrador Friday.

Kurt Balderston’s team finished the opening round at 4-2 after beating New Brunswick 9-2 in seven ends Wednesday night.

Alberta counted one in six then stole four in seven to seal the win.

Play continues through Saturday in St. Catherines, Ontario.

NPHL

There is one game in the North Peace Hockey League Thursday night.

Falher is in High Prairie.

The game starts at 8:30 p.m.

The Pirates are 1-1-1 so far this season. The Regals are 0-2.

Wolves

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves basketball teams have rare Thursday night home games this week.

They host Briercrest College in their first home games of the season.

The women’s game starts at 6 p.m. The men’s game follows at 8 p.m.

Both are 0-2 so far this season.
