City of Grande Prairie opens community sandbox for winter traction

Nov 8, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is offering a free source of sand to residents to help keep their sidewalks and driveways safer through the winter.

The city’s free community sandbox is available for residents to bring up to two five-gallon containers, fill them with sand, and use them to improve traction around their homes.

The sandbox can be found at the City Service Centre near the south end of 112 Street.

Transportation Director Wade Nellis says the City appreciates residents efforts help improve accessibility in their community.
