Seniors Outreach’s Adopt-A-Driveway program returns for another winter

Nov 14, 2024 | 10:06 AM

Seniors Outreach is looking for volunteers to help support their annual winter program.

Adopt-A-Driveway is designed for low-income seniors who aren’t able to remove snow on their own and have no one in their home to do it for them.

Senior’s Outreach is now encouraging residents to “be a good neighbour” by adopting a driveway close to their home; adding that it’s a great opportunity for youth groups, sports teams and high school students who need volunteer credits for their diploma.

So far, 42 homes have signed up for the program and are looking for shovelers.

Anyone interested in adopting a driveway this winter can visit the Adopt-A-Driveway map and locate a dark blue snowflake closest to their home. Then, call Senior’s Outreach at 780-539-6255, and once confirmed, the icon will be changed to light blue.

Spots are also still open for seniors to apply to have their driveway adopted for the winter.

Interested seniors can either call the office or visit in person to fill out an application.
