County Regional Fire Service crews rescue horse from icy water

County Regional Fire Services crews rescued a horse Tuesday, November 19 after it had fallen through ice into a dugout.

Crews from Wembley, Dunes, and La Glace worked together at the dugout near Range Road 74 and Township Road 715, with assistance from Dunes Ice Rescue, Wembley’s Water Rescue and the Large Animal Rescue Team from La Glace.

They were able to safely free the horse within an hour. It was then able to walk on its own to a heated barn to recover.
