A local Grande Prairie not-for-profit was selected as one of the recipients of the 2024 Wishbone Awards.

The Cairn Society was selected for its work “supporting individuals below the Core Needs Level,” especially during the holidays.

The Cairn Society and executive director Carrie Bartsch work to provide essential services and “offer a hand up to those in need” by housing over 140 people and providing them with various support.

Now, the Cairn Society will receive a $2,500 grant to support ongoing community initiatives and spread holiday cheer.

The Wishbone Awards were created to help combat food insecurity in Canada, and highlight “unsung heroes who go above and beyond during the holidays.”
