Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention hires new executive director

Grande Prairie’s Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention has hired a new executive director.

Angela Sutherland will take over the post on December 30, replacing Hywel Williams.

“I am honoured to join the RCSP and excited about the opportunities ahead. I look forward to working with the dedicated staff, board and partners to further the important work we are doing to promote mental wellbeing and resiliency in our community and to help drive innovation and program development in the years to come,” says Sutherland in a release.

“It has been a privilege to lead RCSP and work alongside such an incredible team dedicated to supporting our community,” says Williams in that same release, adding “I am confident that Angela’s leadership and expertise will elevate the organization to new heights and further its impact on suicide prevention. I look forward to seeing RCSP continue to thrive under her guidance.”

The organization says in that release that Sutherland’s ideas align with the centre’s “mission to empower individuals and communities through education, support and advocacy.” The centre also thanked Williams for his guidance during the transition time.
