A young Joussard man has been charged by RCMP after dragging a police officer by their arm during a traffic stop.

On November 29, 2024, a joint traffic stop was conducted by Lakeshore Regional Police and faust RCMP just before midnight.

During the initial interaction with the driver of the vehicle, police observed open alcohol and a clear bag of ammunition on the passenger side floor board. The female driver exited the vehicle without incident.

While speaking with the female, officers noticed a firearm in the backseat of the vehicle and Lakeshore Regional Police advised RCMP of this.

A male hiding under the backseat jumped into the driver seat of the vehicle and police advised he was under arrest and tried to arrest him.

Police were able to disable the vehicle a short distance away from the assault and the male suspect tried to flee the scene on foot.
