Grande Prairie Intercultural Association announces Black History Month 2025 festivities
The Grande Prairie Intercultural Association, Grande Prairie Public Library, and community partners have announced several events for Black History Month this February.
Things kick off with an opening ceremony February 1; featuring a proclamation by Mayor Jackie Clayton and County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall, followed by a short documentary screening and a panel conversation.
Later on, the Centre for Creative Arts will host an opening reception for the ‘Community Over Empire’ art exhibition, showcasing the work of artists and artisans from Africa and the African diaspora.
Everything comes to a close March 1 with the annual gala event at the Paradise Inn, featuring Dr. Ivy Francis-Aklo as the guest speaker.
