Light agenda for first Grande Prairie City Council meeting of 2025
City council held its first meeting of 2025 on Monday.
Since nearly all of the committee meetings were cancelled last week, the agenda was very light.
– Council approved a $10,000 sponsorship for the 7 Over 70 Celebration, organized by the Northwestern Alberta Foundation. The June event will see awards given out in seven different categories to people over 70 who have made a big contribution to the community. Nomination forms are available on the foundation’s website.
– Council also approved a change to the Land Use Bylaw to add a use called Parking Lot or Building to areas zoned Industrial General. This came about after a business owner asked about buying a nearby property to use for overflow parking. City staff told council that it was just an oversight that this use was not already included for IG zoning.
