New radiologist practising at GPRH

Jan 16, 2025 | 7:05 AM

As part of an ongoing effort from the provincial government, the Peace region is now welcoming a new radiologist to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Dr. Napo Kasirye-Mbugua received her medical training in South Africa with the University of Pretoria and the South Africa Colleges of Medicine, where she received her master’s in radiology before completing a diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.

Dr. Napo will now work with staff at the GPRH to perform and diagnose imaging tests, like X-rays, ultrasounds and MRIs.

MLA for Grande Prairie Nolan Dyck says the region is fortunate to have Dr. Napo join our local healthcare team; “Her arrival will enhance access to care for not only those in Grande Prairie but across northern Alberta.”

Outside of work, AHS says Dr. Napo enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as outdoors, hiking and cycling.

In the release, AHS said it will continue to implement its new “overall physician recruitment strategy,” with part of that being a team of “three physician resource planners in the North Zone, who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities.”
