Aquatera Utility service increases for County residents

Jan 29, 2025 | 7:00 AM

The County of Grande Prairie Council held its regular meeting on Monday, January 27.

Following an announcement at Grande Prairie City Council’s regular meeting regarding Aquatera Utility Service increases; County Council followed suit by giving the final reading to the Aquatera Utility Bylaw.

This bylaw would see annual water and wastewater utility service rates increased by 4.5 per cent, starting in March.

For residents in Clairmont, that will equal to $5.69 per month, while County residents can expect an increase of $5.34 per month.

County Council attributed the increases to a requirement that the rates must match the cost of delivering “essential services.”

Council did say Aquatera continues to explore options to avoid increasing costs, however, over the next four years “Aquatera will be undertaking a significant capital infrastructure addition and replacement cycle.”
