Peace Regional RCMP provide update on Highway 986 collision

RCMP with the Peace Regional Detachment are sending their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased, following a fatal accident on Highway 986.

On Sunday, February 9, Red Earth Creek Officers received a report about a suspected impaired driver leaving the area and heading towards Little Buffalo.

While actively looking for the suspected impaired driver Mounties received a report of a fatal crash on Highway 986, near Marten Lake, involving a vehicle that matched the description.

RCMP, the Red Earth Creek Fire Dept., EMS and STARS all responded to the scene and found the two occupants of the vehicle that matched the impaired driving report, were dead at the scene.

The two occupants of a second vehicle, a 33-year-old woman, and a 49-year-old woman, both residents of Red Earth Creek, were also declared deceased by EMS and STARS.

At this time, RCMP are still investigating the identity of the two occupants of the vehicle suspected of impaired driving.
