Valentine’s Day will also be Day 1 of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Nampa-raised sisters Kayla and Ashton Skrlik and their teammates will be the Alberta representative after winning the provincial title January 26 in Rimby.

They will play New Brunswick in the first draw at 5 p.m. Friday (today) Alberta time.

Skrlik’s team is in a pool that includes Rachel Homan’s Team Canada, Krista McCarville’s Northern Ontario rink, the B.C representative Corryn Brown, and a second Alberta team skipped by Selena Sturmay.

The Sturmay team was one of the pre-qualifiers based on the rankings from last season. Sturmay will play Brown in Draw 1.

There are eighteen teams taking part. Play will continue though February 23.
