Feb 26, 2025 | 3:27 PM

UPDATE:

County crews have confirmed that the gas release in the area of Highway 674 (Teepee Creek Highway) and Range Road 54 has been contained and is no longer releasing.

The County of Grande Prairie is advising the public to avoid the area of Highway 674 and Range Road 54, as they respond to a gas release in the area.

County Regional Fire and Enforcement says there is no threat to the public, but residents may notice a strong smell and should remain indoors if they have any sensitivities.

Emergency crews are on site and work is ongoing to shut down the gas.

Industry partners monitoring the situation say the gas is not showing any detectable levels.

The smell is travelling as far north as Township Road 742 and as far east as Range Road 44.

Anyone feeling sick is advised to call 911.
