Alberta continues reducing red tape
The Government of Alberta has tabled its ninth red tape reduction bill in an effort to continue reducing regulatory burdens for Albertans and businesses.
The province says that since 2019, it’s eliminated more than 209,000 regulatory requirements and implemented hundreds of red tape reduction initiatives, generating a cost savings of more than $2.9 billion. The proposed amendments are intended to further this.
The Red Tape Reduction Statues Amendment Act, 2025, introduces changes intended to streamline processes and improve services across multiple sectors. If passed, they would allow for electronic communication in the exchange of documents between landlords and tenants, improve support for charitable organizations, facilitate greater trade union participation in apprenticeship education and improve child intervention.
“Alberta is the best in the country at cutting red tape and we want it to stay that way. Red tape reduction isn’t only about helping the economy – it’s about improving the lives of Albertans from all walks of life,” said Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction. “The changes we’re proposing in this bill will help thousands of Albertans – including landlords, tenants, and students in the trades and post-secondary institutions.”
