2025 Black History Month Gala at Paradise Inn on Saturday

Feb 28, 2025 | 12:22 PM

Black History Month festivities in Grande Prairie wrap up Saturday March 1, with a gala event.

The 2025 Black History Month Gala will feature a mixer, dinner and presentations from Oasis Church Director and key note speaker Dr. Ivy Francis-Akolo, and maths teacher Emmanuel Okwunwa.

Dr. Francis-Akolo will be giving a presentation titled Building Stronger Communities: Empowerment, Resilience, and the Ties That Bind Us.

The event will also include live performances from musician King Ramon, ballerina Anu Aluko, and more local talent.

The Grande Prairie Intercultural Association says the gala will give participants the opportunity to celebrate Black history, foster connections, and learn in an engaging atmosphere.

This year’s Black History Month theme is “The Ties that Bind Us” in honour of the strength and resilience of Black individuals, families, and communities.

The gala is happening at the Paradise Inn on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
