Canfor reports smaller loss in fourth quarter

Mar 12, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Canfor is reporting a $45.9 million loss for the fourth quarter of 2024.

That compares to $559.7 million in the three previous months.

The company says there was a price increase for lumber during the fourth quarter.

There was also a three cent drop for the Canadian dollar versus the US dollar.

Home construction went up a bit in the US and the home renovations market “remained steady.”

Canfor says in its earnings report that it will continue to focus on selling lumber domestically, especially in Western Canada as a way to deal with American tariffs. It is also looking at selling to other markets.

Canfor owns the sawmill located along 108 Street in Grande Prairie.
