Donald Raymond Stubbs

June 26, 1937 – March 12, 2025

Donald Raymond Stubbs went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early hours of Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Pearson Place in Hythe, Alberta at the age of 87.  He was surrounded during his last few days by his children, their spouses and other family members he was close to.

Donald was born on June 26, 1937, in Beaverlodge, Alberta.  As a teenager he was a star athlete holding several high school provincial track and field records.  As a young adult, he attended the Canadian Bible College (CBC) where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Bendle who shortly thereafter became his wife of over 60 years. Donald went on to a long career as a social worker and is remembered as kind, and full of empathy for those lucky enough to be on his caseload.  He truly touched the lives of many people over his long life and will be remembered fondly by many.

Donald is survived by his daughter Dorothy Salter (Dave), sons Donald Stubbs (Dawn), Darrin Stubbs (Toni), and Duane Stubbs.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Rhiannon Osmack, Todd Salter (Megan), Trent Stubbs, Tammy Peterson (Danny), Keeley Stubbs, Landon Stubbs, Mikayla Haley, Mack Haley and nine great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Stubbs, his parents Norman and Blanche Stubbs, his brothers Herbert Stubbs, Gordon Stubbs, Darrel Stubbs, and sisters, Elaine Prevost, Charlotte Rainey.

Donald’s celebration of life will be held on March 20, 2025, at 11:00 am at Bear Creek Funeral Home. Refreshments and interment will follow the service.
