November 2, 1940 – March 18, 2025
With heavy, yet peaceful hearts, we announce the passing of Jake Friesen on March 18, 2025.
Jake was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, before moving with his family to La Crete, AB, at the age of 12. Jake was a man of many interests, but his 2 main loves in life were trucking and horses. His love of trucking began at the young age of 15 from his friend, Jimmy Ward. At the age of 19, Jake moved to Fort St. John, BC, and started swamping for KAPS Transport. He soon worked his way up to driving. Then, at the young age of 27, six or seven guys plus Jake were invited to the boss’s office with Jake being the youngest of all of them. He left that room promoted to truck push and was now the youngest truck push in KAPS history.
Growing up on the farm, it was quickly noticed that Jake had a love for horses as well. His other major accomplishment in life was his room full of chuckwagon and chariot trophies of his riding career. The highlight of his racing career was when he got to race at the Calgary Stampede 2 times.
You always knew where to find Jake- driving a big truck, or at the rodeo grounds.
Jake is survived by many family members who all loved and will miss him greatly.
A Funeral Service for Jake will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at People’s Church, Grande Prairie, AB. A viewing will take place before the Funeral, beginning at 1:00 pm. Jake’s interment will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm in Cleardale, AB.
