Grande Prairie resident wins $2 million from March lotto draw

A Grande Prairie local finally hit the big time after being a regular customer at his local lotto retailer.

Ron Fraser took home $2,007,000 thanks to the WESTERN MAX March 4 draw, after buying his winning ticket from the Wapiti Road Shell on 79 Ave.

Fraser says after scanning his winning ticket he couldn’t believe he had won; “I honestly thought there was a hiccup with the terminal—I just couldn’t believe it—so I took it up to the front.”

Fraser said he then told the cashier he had one more to check; “she asked how much it was for, I said ‘I think it’s a couple million,’ and she laughed and said, ‘I don’t think I’ve got that on me!'”

When talking about his win Fraser said “I didn’t get too flustered, but I was very excited. It’s come at a really good time, I’m planning to use this to help my family.”
