Gun and drugs seized following Peace River traffic stop

On Monday, March 24, 2025, members of the Peace Regional RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Highway 986 and Range Road 203 where a man was sleeping inside.

Officers attended to the report and the driver took a Mandatory Alcohol Screening, which was passed, however, shortly after RCMP left as there were no charges identified at the time; The driver began driving erratically.

Police located the driver and laid charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up multiple illegal drugs, drug trafficking tools and paraphernalia, and a firearm.

RCMP found and seized:

  • 53.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 29.7 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Drug paraphernalia, including scales, baggies, measuring devices, and containers.
  • Long barrel firearm

34-year-old Russell William Pasquan of Peace River was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm when unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (X2)
  • Dangerous operations of a motor vehicle

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody with a court date set for April 7, in Peace River’s Court of Justice.
