June 18, 1980 – March 15, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Troy Edmund Macaulay. Troy was born on June 18, 1980, in Grande Prairie, AB., and passed peacefully in his home in Grande Prairie on March 15, 2025.
Troy faced trying times from birth, spending his first 3 months in the Neonatal Unit of the University Hospital. His fight for acceptance in this world continued for the rest of his life. Even with his struggles, he was willing to be the friend you could rely on to help you out- be it walking a dog, helping you to move, or being a shoulder to cry on- he was there.
Troy had a great love for the outdoors, building huge campfires while camping (or in the backyard!). He was a man of many talents- comfortable driving the boat while tubing with his daughter, nieces and nephews, or fly fishing in the cold waters of the North. Troy was a wannabe mechanic and handyman alongside his father (just as stubborn as him too). Often unsure if his ideas would work, he would plow ahead knowing his dad would be there to help sort it out. Troy’s favourite story is when the tables turned, and he was the one to rescue his father when he fell in the Kitimat River.
Troy loved his family time, and spent the last 2 years getting to know his daughter Madison.
Troy is survived by his parents Terry and Linda, daughter Madison Macaulay Zmaeff, sister Terra Lynn (Dallas) Cairns, niece and nephew Allorra and Calin, as well numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Troy on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Golden Age Centre in Grande Prairie, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Troy’s name to the Salvation Army or Rising Above would be appreciated.
If you have pictures or stories of Troy that you would like to share with his daughter, please contact Madison at 1-780-720-9304, or zmaeffm@gmail.com.
