City of Grande Prairie to begin Pest Control Operations

The City of Grande Prairie is set to begin its annual pest control operations in May.

The work focuses on controlling noxious weeds, insects and plant diseases in city-owned land using products registered with Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency.

Parks Director Kase DeVries says the program supports the community’s enjoyment of outdoor spaces by managing pests in line with public health standards.

The city says invasive plants can damage natural ecosystems and spread quickly if left unmanaged, and it is the responsibility of property owners to control the weeds on their own land.

Pest control operations go from May to October
