Harry Balfour School hosting Arbor Day ceremonial tree planting

The Grande Prairie Arbor Day Society will mark the annual tree planting holiday with a ceremonial tree planting at Harry Balfour School Thursday, May 8.

The Society chooses a school every Arbor Day to receive the ceremonial first tree to be planted on the first Thursday of the first full week of May.

This year’s tree was donated by Greg Carlson to Harry Balfour School and will be planted at 11:00 a.m.

Additionally, volunteers from multiple non-profit organizations have individually bagged, delivered and presented almost 1500 seedlings to Grade 1 students across the Peace Country.
