Peace Regional RCMP laying firearm charges following a traffic stop May 7.

A traffic stop conducted by Peace Regional RCMP resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off shotgun and the arrest of three individuals.

Mounties discovered the weapon in the vehicle while conducting proactive patrols May 7 in the Area of 100 Ave and stopped a vehicle, whose owner was known to be on curfew conditions.

A search of the vehicle led to the shotgun being located and three arrests have been made:

Kaitlin Sinclair (22), a resident of Peace River is facing three charges

  • unsafe storage of firearm
  • unauthorized possession of firearm in motor vehicle
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm

As well as a warrant for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Russell William Pasquan (34), also a resident of Peace River has six charges.

  • unsafe storage of firearm
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
  • failure to comply with release order x2
  • public mischief.

A third individual was arrested but remains unidentified at their information has not yet been sworn in court.

Sinclair and Pasquan will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River on May 26 and 12, respectively.
