Boreal Wetland Centre up for provincial award

Grande Prairie’s Boreal Wetland Centre is up for a provincial award.

It is one of the nominees for the 34th Annual Emerald Award, given out by the Alberta Emerald Foundation.

The award recognizes work to help the environment.

The centre is one of three organizations shortlisted under the category of Shared Footprints Award.

The award website says the centre works to “develop innovative solutions for wetland management, restoration and environmental sustainability.”

An email from the centre says it is the first hands-on facility in Canada “dedicated to wetland conservation, research and education.”

The awards ceremony will take place June 5.

The Boreal Wetland Centre is located in Evergreen Park.
