Stolen vehicle investigation leads to assault with a weapon charges laid

May 14, 2025 | 12:51 PM

Faust RCMP and Lakeshore Police made a pair of arrests on Monday, May 12, after conducting a stolen vehicle investigation.

According to Mounties, this began Saturday, May 10, when a stolen vehicle involved in their investigation was spotted.

Officers from the Faust detachment then attempted a traffic stop, however, the stolen vehicle fled from authorities, ramming several police and civilian vehicles in the process.

High Prairie RCMP and the Grande Prairie Police Dog Services were then called in to assist, but the suspects could not be found.

Two days later, on Monday, May 12, Mounties then received a tip on the suspect’s location, as they had barricaded themselves inside a residence on Drift Pile Cree Nation.

As a result, Faust RCMP and Lakeshore Police surrounded the home and managed to talk one of the suspects into surrendering.

However, the other remained inside the residence, which led to police entering and making an arrest inside.

Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Tanner Bigcharles of no fixed address, and 22-year-old Kirsten Isadore of Drift Pile Cree Nation had eight charges laid against them each:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Failure to stop
  • Dangerous driving
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Two counts of Obstructing a Peace Officer

Bigcharles also received an additional charge of possession of a weapon while prohibited.

After being brought before a justice of the peace, Bigcharles was remanded into custody while Isadore was released with conditions.

Bigcharles will appear in court today (Wednesday, May 14) in Edmonton, while Isadore will be in High Prairie court June 2.

In the release, Faust RCMP Constable Tyler Bell, thanked the public for allowing “us to conduct our investigation safely by following the safety guidelines we provided.”
