J.D.A County Sportsplex pond stocked for the summer

The County Sportsplex pond is now stocked for fishing.

The County says 2,000 rainbow trout have been added to the pond for catch-and-release angling.

The pond is open to the public during daylight hours, with the County saying it’s “perfect for a peaceful day outdoors.”

Besides the pond following Alberta Sportfishing regulations, the County did provide their own list of rules and regulations:

License not required for those under 16 years of age; Adults may assist without obtaining a license, provided the youth is the one primarily fishing.
License not required for those over 65 years of age
Catch and release only
Open during daylight hours
No ice fishing
Do not release aquarium water, plants or dead or live animals into the pond

In the release, the County also advises residents to avoid the pond after recent rainfall, as it is a stormwater management system, so water levels can change rapidly.
