Heat record broke in Beaverlodge on Wednesday

May 29, 2025 | 9:22 AM

Environment Canada says on May 28, five communities in the province set a new daily maximum temperature record.

One of those communities included Beaverlodge; where the mercury hit 32.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The old record was set back in 1936, when it was 30.0 degrees Celsius.

The heat wave is expected to go away after today (Thursday, May 29) in Alberta.

The national weather office says a cold front will move in this afternoon and moderate temperatures back to the high-teen’s to mid-twenty’s for the foreseeable future.
