County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service reporting visible smoke from BC wildfire

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service is advising the public of visible smoke due to a fire burning near Kelly Lake.

Wildfire G70422 is burning in BC, approximately 15 kilometres west of the Alberta border, and there is no threat to county residents.

County crews and Alberta Forestry are monitoring the situation, and the County Regional Fire Service has two teams ready to protect structures by installing sprinklers on homes if needed.

The County Agriculture department is reaching out to residents in the area who are registered with the County’s Livestock Emergency Response Plan (LERP).

A fire ban will be in place in the County effective 2:00 p.m. today.
