CP NewsAlert: Evacuation order for wildfire in B.C. Peace

DAWSON CREEK — The Peace River Regional District in northeastern British Columbia has issued an evacuation order for properties threatened by an out-of-control wildfire.

The province’s emergency information service says the Kiskatinaw River fire, measuring about 1,100 hectares, poses a threat to human life.

The Evacuation Order is in effect for properties in the following area:

  • Approximately 18.6 km south of the One Island Lake turn off on Highway 52E
  • Due west 10.6 km
  • Due South 14 km
  • Due East 7.3 km to Highway 52 E
  • Due East 15 km to the BC border
  • Due North 12 km to a point along the BC border
  • Due west 10 km to Highway 52E

People are being asked to head to Dawson Creek and register at Sudaten Hall.
