County of Grande Prairie calls for an evacuation

Jun 5, 2025 | 12:12 PM

The County of Grande Prairie has now issued an evacuation order for residents living north of Township Road 710 to Township Road 740, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border, to Range Road 130.

Residents have 30 minutes to evacuate their homes, gather personal belongings, medications, pets and supplies.

County residents who have not registered their livestock with the County’s Livestock Emergency Response Plan (LERP) should call 780-532-9727 as soon as possible.

Evacuees are directed to register at the Hythe Community Library.

According to Alberta Wildfire, this order was put in place as the Kelly Lake wildfire continues to grow, now only two kilometres from the BC/Alberta border.

The evacuation alert area has now also expanded east and north; residents residing along Township Road 710, from Range Road 130 to 124 and along the British Columbia/Alberta border to Township Road 750 until Highway 43, must now be ready to evacuate in 30 minutes if required.

More updates are expected.
