Planned ignitions planned for Kiskatinaw wildfire

Jun 10, 2025 | 12:01 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership says wildfire crews are preparing to conduct planned ignitions today, June 10, to combat the Kiskatinaw Wildfire, if conditions allow.

These operations aim to bring the fire to established guards with the support of wildland fire crews and structure protection personnel.

GPREP says the fire is almost 21,700 hectares in size as of 10:10 p.m. last night.

Environment Canada is reporting winds should ease today to up to 30 km/h, with a forecasted high of 21 degrees.
