Saddle Hills County evacuation area expanded

The evacuation order for Saddle Hills County has been expanded.

Now, anyone residing between Township Road 794 and Highway 49, between Range Road 94 and Range Road 85, as well as the area between Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township Road 794 and Township Road 802, including Moonshine Lake Provincial Park, are now under an evacuation order.

Evacuees are asked to collect enough supplies, medications and pet food to last up to seven days.

As a result, the evacuation alert area has also now been expanded, with anyone residing in these areas asked to be ready to evacuate within an hour:

  • Between Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township Road 802 and Township Road 810
  • Everyone outside of the Evacuation Zone, between Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township 794 and Highway 49
  • Between Township Road 802 and Highway 49, and Highway 725 and Range Road 82

According to a recent update from the Central Peace Regional Emergency Management, the wildfire is estimated to be five km northwest of Moonshine Provincial Park.
